Today was Global School Day of Play! The Summit joined thousands of schools all over the globe by participating in a day dedicated to unstructured, screen-free play for all students. At The Summit, we celebrate learning on a daily basis, but Global Day of Play is a great way to help spread the word that play is more than just fun.
We celebrated on Tuesday with a whole day of fun! Students in Lower School had access to many themed zones of play throughout the day, including creativity, movement, dramatic play, building and more! Some favorites included fort building, board games, makerspace and STEM! They were free to discover and explore throughout many classrooms and common spaces. We also ventured outside into the dreary weather for some outdoor playtime – exercise in any weather is better than none at all! Kindergarteners through fifth graders played side-by-side for a day full of fun and learning through play.
Thank you so much to any families who donated or lent us materials, games and craft supplies! You helped make our day even more of a success!
