EL Yellow began our morning with a visit from Leif, the Summit Therapy Dog. Dr. Jones explained the guidelines for interacting with Leif and how the dog helps children. Each child was offered a turn to pet Leif. Leif will return weekly to listen to children read.
We learned about Las Posadas, celebrated in most Latin American counties and in the US which involves a celebration with food, music and a pinata. We read the book ‘Twas Nochebuena, which is written in English and Spanish. Later, we sang Feliz Navidad!
We learned the poinsettia is the flower of Mexico. The students were excited to paint a poinsettia of their own.
We took advantage of the warm weather and completed the Sensory Walk located beside our track. It helps children self-regulate, manage sensory overload and improve attention and focus.
I hope you can enjoy some sunshine!
