Fall Update!

We’ve just finished our unit on Slide Guitar by composing our own version of a classic form. The “12 Bar Blues” is a traditional form for blues music consisting of 12 measures of music using predominantly I, IV, and V chords.

Just this last week we started on our drum unit and have learned several “rudiments” and warm-ups including Eighths, Paradiddles, a single-stroke roll and Flam Taps. This week we are starting on the most common drum beat for drum set the 2-4 drum beat. There are countless examples of this but the most clear and constant example we tried is “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson.

We will get a little more practice on the drums, then review, have our test and work on the music for the videos for the end of the semester!
