6th Grade Ecology
Our 6th graders have been diving into the world of plants right in our own backyard! Armed with curiosity and a passion for discovery, they’ve been busy collecting various plant specimens. But the work doesn’t stop there. The class is now focused on classifying these specimens, working together to create a comprehensive, searchable database. This database won’t just be for our class—others will be invited to explore and contribute to it as it grows. It’s an exciting opportunity for our students to contribute to a project that could benefit many future classes and plant enthusiasts.
7th/8th Grade Life Science
In 7th and 8th Grade Life Science, students have been exploring the fascinating world of Taxonomy. They’re learning that science is not static; it evolves with new discoveries. As scientists uncover more about the natural world, they often revise their models and classifications to reflect this new information. Our students are seeing firsthand how the scientific process is a dynamic journey, not just a collection of facts. This understanding of change and adaptation is crucial as they develop their own scientific thinking and inquiry skills.
3D Design
Our 3D Design class is buzzing with creativity! This year, we have a mix of first and second-year students, each group embarking on exciting journeys. First-year students are collaborating on a project that will introduce them to the fundamentals of 3D modeling, rigging, texturing, and animation. It’s a comprehensive introduction that will set the stage for their future work in the field. Meanwhile, second-year students have the opportunity to explore their individual interests. They’re researching projects and beginning to specialize in the areas that excite them the most. Whether it’s character design, environmental modeling, or animation, these students are starting to carve out their own paths in the 3D design world.
Computer Safety
A quick reminder to all students about the importance of computer safety: recently, we’ve noticed some malware on school computers, likely due to downloading files from untrustworthy sources. It’s a good reminder to always be cautious before downloading anything. Double-check that the source is safe, and when in doubt, ask for help. Malware can significantly impact your computer’s performance, using up valuable CPU resources and causing other unwanted issues. Let’s all stay vigilant to keep our devices safe and running smoothly!
Film Fest 2024: Films!
